Dakar Rally – Final Leg
Jan 16th 2010 Buenos Aires, Argentina: The 32nd legendary Dakar Rally delivered a hair rising duel between Nasser Al-Attiyah and Carlos Sainz in front of millions of fans lining the daily stages in Argentina - Chile and billions worldwide in front of television screens. After 14 stages and 8900 kilometre driving through towering and endless sand dune fields of the Atacama Desert and through enormous stone and gravel sections cross the Andes, Carlos Sainz and Lucas Cruz triumphed by only 2 minutes 12 seconds ahead of Nasser Al-Attiyah and Timo Gottschalk.

Jan 15th 2010 Santa Rosa, Argentina: Nasser Al-Attiyah and Carlos Sainz fight for victory is keeping the 2010 Dakar Rally exciting and the result open up until the last minute. On the desert classic’s thirteenth and penultimate stage Nasser Al-Attiyah and Timo Gottschalk finished in second place and took 2 minutes 32 seconds from their team mates Carlos Sainz and Lucas Cruz. The Spanish duo’s lead over Nasser and Timo in the overall standings shrunk as a result to only 2 minutes 48 seconds.

Jan 14th 2010 San Rafael, Argentina: The Volkswagen factory duo Carlos Sainz and Lucas Cruz won the twelfth and longest Dakar Rally stage, only 54 seconds ahead of Nasser Al-Attiyah and Timo Gottschalk. Towards the middle of the 476 kilometres stage from San Juan to San Rafael Carlos Sainz was about four minutes faster than Nasser but on the second sandier section, Nasser reduced the gap to 52 seconds by the finish.

Jan 13th 2010 San Juan, Argentina: On the second Andes crossing from Chile to Argentina the Volkswagen factory duo Nasser Al-Attiyah and Timo Gottschalk grabbed back 5 minutes and 38 seconds on their major rivals Carlos Sainz and Lucas Cruz, who still hold the lead in the general standings for the moment. Nasser and Timo finished the eleventh stage in the Dakar Rally 2010 in fourth place and are now only 4 minutes and 28 seconds behind Carlos Sainz who was forced to accept a setback, two slow punctures.

Jan 12th 2010 Santiago, Chile: After more than three hours of driving through the tenth Dakar stage the time difference between the winner Carlos Sainz and Nasser Al-Attiyah was only 1 minute and 40 seconds. The stage from La Serena to Santiago in Chile was very stony with many small mountain passes and tight corners. Nasser Al-Attiyah and Timo Gottschalk finished the stage in fourth place and still second in the overall standing 10 minutes 6 seconds behind Carlos Sainz and Lucas Cruz.

Jan 11th 2010 La Serena, Chile: Nasser Al-Attiyah and Timo Gottschalk claimed the day’s victory on the ninth stage between Copiapó and La Serena in Chile. Nasser’s winning margin of 5 minutes 59 seconds represented the largest lead for the winner of a stage during the 2010 Dakar Rally. Nasser achieved this notable performance on the shortest stage so far, which ran, however, through difficult dune fields in the Atacama Desert. After the day’s victory Nasser and Timo are still in the second place but they reduced the gap considerably to Carlos Sains

Jan 10th 2010 Copiapó, Chile: Nasser Al-Attiyah and Timo Gottschalk defended their second position in the overall standing on the Dakar Rally’s eighth stage between Antofagasta to Copiapó. Nasser and Timo finished in fifth place after suffering two punctures on the extremely tough and long stage through Chile.

Jan 8th 2010 Antofagasta, Chile: The Volkswagen factory duo Nasser Al-Attiyah and Timo Gottschalk won the - 600-kilometre - seventh leg in Dakar Rally from Iquique to Antofagasta in the Chilean Atacama Desert. Nasser and Timo managed an outstanding second stage win after their exploit on the second day of the rally.

Jan 7th 2010 Iquique, Chile: The sixth Dakar - 418-kilometre stage from Antofagasta to Iquique in Chile’s Atacama Desert delivered much navigation difficulties because of the constantly changing terrain. Nasser Al-Attiyah and Timo Gottschalk finished in fourth place in their 300-hp Race Touareg car powered by VW TDI diesel engines. Nasser and Timo continue ranking as the overall runners-up after Carlos Sainz and Lucas Cruz.
Dakar Rally – 5th Leg
Jan 6th 2010 Antofagasta, Chile: On the so far longest and toughest special stage of the Dakar Rally, Nasser Al-Attiyah and Timo Gottschalk finished in third place after Mark Miller and Carlos Sainz. On the way from Copiapó to Antofagasta, which led across elevations of almost 3,000 metres and vast scree fields, Nasser and Timo contested the special stage that – at 483 kilometres – was the second-longest one of the rally.

Jan 5th 2010 Copiapó, Chile: On the first Chilean leg of the Dakar Rally 2010, Nasser Al-Attiyah and his co-driver Timo Gottschalk achieved third place. A slow puncture cost Nasser a lot of time but he could completed the demanding fourth leg crossing of the Andes from Fiambalá to Copiapó as the best Volkswagen driver.

Jan 4th 2010 Fiambalá, Argentina: Nasser Al-Attiyah and his co-driver Timo Gottschalk lost valuable time due to a puncture and navigation difficulties on the 182-kilometre special stage from La Rioja to Fiambalá in Argentina. But they managed setting the third-best stage time on the third leg of the Dakar Rally 2010.
